Overview

What is the challenge?
In this challenge we analyse our immediate environment to understanding comfort levels, what conditions we need to survive and thrive. The challenge is for you to develop a Comfort Level chart for yourself and use this to tackle the challenge. You will be supported through this challenge, use the Resources tab for support materials.
How do we tackle this challenge?

Part 1 – create your own plot of this graphic with the temperatures and humidity of where you live. Above is an example for a chart for Cape Town.To develop this chart, search on the internet for the typical temperatures and relative humidities for the area where you live. Make the plot for maximum and minimum values each year, to give you “Winter” and “Summer” sections. The overlapping area should be your “comfort zone”.

  • List which room or location are you most comfortable in?

  • Are you a “winter” or a “summer” person, based on your choice of room?

Part 2 – use your own chart:
Read the article on “Living on Antarctica” in the “Resources” section, and

  • Plot the conditions the Antarctic team experiences on your comfort chart.

  • How comfortable do you think you would be in the habitat on Antarctica?

Part 3 - what three recommendations can you make to ensure that comfort levels are maintained or improved, in line with achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 3?Submission – submit your chart and findings to the link in “Submissions”.Video
